Nobody Wanted This

Aw poo. If Benny is out for another month, the chances of the Crew ending the season with a winning record aren't so good (much less their already paper thin chances inthe wildcard race).

Shame, Benny was headed for his 5th complete game in his last 6th outings before the lat thing happened in the eigth last night. Maybe he'll make his next start, but the way things usually go for this club...mmmm...bah.

Breaking News. Crap.

My wife and I were at that game. When it was still 1-0 I commented to my wife that it was a good think Sheets was doing this with a low pitch count, because if we needed to go to our bullpen, we were screwed.

Lo and behold, sheets get injured. Kane Davis comes in and needs to get one strike. That's in. One freaking strike to end the inning. Not only does Kane allow a run to score, but he can't even finish out an inning where all he needs to do is get one eff'ing strike!, and is replaced after 2 batters (well, 1 and 1/3 batters, really).

Aaarrgh! The Brewer's bullpen really pisses me off sometimes!

It is safe to say that I am not a Kane Davis guy. My wife may even remember me storming around the house yelling at him when he blew a game for Doug Davis a week or two ago (although it probably blurs into the other nights I was storming around the house bitching about the Brewers...I believe her term is "whiney bitch" for me on nights when the Crew loses).

That pen is really a mess right now. The only guy that seems like can be counted on is Turnbow. They really need Wise back. Not really sold on Santana. Seems like Neddy needs to let the starters stay in until they lose the lead themselves for a while (especially Doug Davis).

No idea what they are going to do for a 5th starter (or a 4th!). Santos came in from the pen and threw gas on the fire tonight. Maybe Eveland needs to start? Recall fricken Obi if Helling doesn't take?

They might actually need to trade a prospect or two to pick up a starter. Or give some free agent clown 4-5 mil to plug in to the 3rd or 4th slot in the rotation (ouch). Maybe that is what they can trade Overbay for.

Yup. And Melvin has had to fill out a post season roster for the first time as a Brewer GM.

Despite a complete lack of offense (most of the time), and a crappy bullpen (if we don't have Kane Davis in there, we have Ricky Botalico in there...), things are actually looking up for the Brewers.

Hopefully, they can carry this into coming years and build on it...
