Town and Country vs. Odyssey, Fight!

So we're shoppin' for a vehicle. We've heard great things about the Honda Odyssey, but test drove a Town and Country. Is the Odyssey really thousands of bucks better?

Anybody who has driven either of these beasts of burden, feel free to comment.

*sigh* I have. But it was for my coaching job so the modles I drove were from years ago. But there never a time that I would be in an odyssy and think "that other mini-van was better" because i was usually thinking about how good the odyssy was.

But like I wrote, that was years ago.

Being a Detroiter...it is hard to say that the Odyssey is better.

But I have a 2000 Caravan, my dad has at 2003 or 2004 T&C. Several friends have Chrysler or Honda models.

We like the Dodge. Dad likes his T&C.

I have a friend who now owns TWO Odyssey vans (because I don't know how to pluralize Odyssey)

He did run into a stalling issue that the Honda dealer took weeks to figure out...so they are not without failures.

I have run into a similar issue as your brother...I had to replace my transmission in the Carvan at 68k. My purchase was about a year prior to Chrysler reintroducing the 7-70...so $2,100 later I have a rebuilt from a local shop.

Other than that, it has been solid. 72k at 6.5 years.

The new models with the "stow and go" seating...try out the seats...are they like park benches? The foam has to be very thin to allow for the fold down. Could be an issue for long trips. Secondly, the "covers" over the compartments which become the floor of the van, are they sturdy...and will they hold up to the wet feet of yours and the B's?

I don't have experience with that system, but I am a bit skeptical about the seats and floor for the stow and go.

Finally, does Chrysler have XM or Sirius? I think Chrysler has Sirius and Honda has XM.

Sirius has ND football, will have NASCAR in 2007, and has NPR and the NFL.

XM has the big 10, MLB, and IndyCar.

Since Chrysler has Sirius and Sirius has Notre Dame Football, I guess you are getting a Town & Country! Is there any other choice?

Hope this helps...
Doug

Shaddap G....

We got a minivan last year. Ford Winstar. LOVE IT. It no longer breaks my back getting the kids in and out of the car seat.

And for you G, I bought a Pontiac Grand AM for *my* car.
